St Joseph College of Education (SJCE) at JNP Nagar, Mettur, Vaikalipatti Tenkasi is a Teacher Education Institution for imparting quality education to meet the genuine need of the people of rural areas. It is a self-financed institute with campus area of 4.49 acre. It has 2999.32 sq. meters built up area. The campus is well developed and elegant. Our college is a co-educational institution and it offers two years B. Ed. programme. At present it offers 8 optional pedagogical subjects. It also acts as a study center of Tamil Nadu Open University and offers various professional diploma and degree courses. We are proud of the progress of our College today - a precious seed has prospered into a vital, virtuous tree.
St Joseph College of Education was founded in the year 2007 and it is owned and managed by the R. C . Diocese of Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. It is a registered society registered under ACT XXI of 1860 , S.No. 17 of 1974.
The college has got the recognition from the NCTE .As per NCTE- 2014 norms; the approved intake is two basic units that consist of 100 students. The recognition order numbers:

The college was originally affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Now it is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. The affiliation order numbers:
